An Ode to Joy

“A flash mob (or Flashmob) is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression.Flash mobs are organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails”(Wikipedia)

The first such Flashmob took place in 2003 and since then, we have had hundreds taking place in all countries around the world, including India. While it is true that initially it was quite a random or “pointless” act, albeit synchronized and deliberate, Flashmobs have evolved since, many a times, imparting something quite delightful and enriching. The sheer creativity, fun-factor, group camaraderie, spectator involvement, and a few moments of unadulterated joy for all are indeed priceless when so much around us looks like its going downhill.

If you search on You Tube, you will find enough examples to keep you entertained. However, the one included here is guaranteed to give you goosebumps for how can anything set to Beethoven’s Ode to Joy not do just that?

Enjoy!
